THE MYTHS SURROUNDING THE RESURFACING INDUSTRYThe purpose of this section is to assist anyone attempting to distinguish fact from fiction, where the Bath Resurfacing Industry is concerned.
Whether you are a prospective client or new operator the task of selecting a Resurfacing Company can be a daunting one. Unfortunately our industry has, like many others, has become fiercely competitive. The result of this being that too many Companies are prepared to say just about anything to try and convince the unsuspecting public that their system is the best, and that others are failures. We are continually amazed at some of the claims made by these people, which vary from “stretching the truth” to “outright lies”. This has become frustrating, to say the least, and is the motivation for our attempts to dispel some of the myths and misrepresentations made by some of these people.
- It is impossible to resurface any item with the same material it was originally manufactured with. Some Companies use terminology like “new enamel”, “micro glaze enamel”, “synthetic porcelain” etc to try to give the impression that this is the case. These names are invented simply to sound good and are not an indication of the product used.
- Almost all other Resurfacing Companies use Epoxy Resin Coatings. Epoxy Resins are highly susceptible to yellowing, dulling, cracking and peeling, and is the reason Ultraglaze Coating was developed 15 years ago. Anyone who claims Epoxies are superior in this application has not had the benefit of 25 years experience with all forms of Resurfacing.
- The most critical aspect of any resurfacing is the method by which a bond between old and new is created. The Ultraglaze Bonding System is unique in that it is the only approach that does not rely on acid etching or grinding the original surface. This is the reason we lead the Industry with the lowest callback rate or warranty claims.
- Ultraglaze is the only Resurfacing Company wholly owned and developed in Australia. This allows us to access and develop the best technology available to the Industry. This gives total control over quality and costs, and is often the reason we are not the most expensive quote. Don’t be fooled or intimidated into thinking you have to accept the highest price to get the best result.
- Carefully consider any claims made either verbally or in print (eg Yellow Pages). Claims such as “est. over 30 years” or “lasts for ever” are not easy to verify and should be considered carefully. Other references to being “used by the world’s leading hotels” are non-specific and mean little. Ask for clarification and /or proof.
